MechanicTap is booking and quote software for independent mobile mechanics. This policy explains what we collect when mechanics use MechanicTap and when their customers send a request through a mechanic’s booking page.
What we collect
- Mechanics: sign-in email, business name, owner name, business phone, city and state, services, hours, photos you upload, and your plan and billing status.
- Customers: name, mobile number, vehicle details, a description of the problem, photos you choose to add, where the vehicle is, and a preferred day.
- Payments: card payments are handled by Stripe. MechanicTap never sees or stores full card numbers.
How we use it
We use this information to run the service: to deliver a customer’s request to the mechanic, send quotes and booking confirmations, send the texts described below, process payments through Stripe, and support mechanics’ accounts. We do not sell personal information.
Text messages (SMS)
Texts are optional. A customer who turns on “Text me updates” on a booking page gets texts about that request: a confirmation that it was received, a booking confirmation, an “On my way” arrival text, and reminders about an open quote. A mechanic who turns on text alerts gets texts about new requests and bookings. Sending a request never requires agreeing to texts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for help.
We do not share or sell mobile numbers or text-message opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Numbers are shared only with the service providers that deliver our messages (such as Twilio) and only to send them.
Who we share information with
With the mechanic you booked with, and with service providers that run MechanicTap: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Twilio (text messages), and Resend (email). They may use it only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep account and request information while a mechanic’s account is open, and as needed for payments, taxes, and disputes. A mechanic can delete their account from Account settings in the app.
Your choices
You can opt out of texts by replying STOP. To ask about or delete your information, contact the mechanic you booked with, or reach MechanicTap through the Contact form in the app.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above.
