Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of MechanicTap, whether you’re a mechanic using the app or a customer sending a request through a mechanic’s booking page.

What MechanicTap does

MechanicTap gives mobile mechanics a booking page, a requests inbox, quotes, and payment tools. The repair work, prices, and scheduling are agreed between the mechanic and the customer. MechanicTap is not a party to that work and does not diagnose vehicles or price repairs.

Requests and bookings

Sending a request does not book an appointment. A visit is confirmed only after the mechanic accepts it, and, when a quote asks for one, the customer approves it and pays the deposit.

Payments

Card payments run through Stripe and each mechanic’s own Stripe account, under Stripe’s terms. Deposits, refunds, and cancellations are between the customer and the mechanic. MechanicTap Pro is billed monthly or yearly and can be canceled anytime from Account; it ends at the close of the billing period.

Text message program

• Program: MechanicTap booking notifications.
• What you’ll get: texts about your own request or job: request received, booking confirmed, “On my way” with arrival time, and reminders about an open quote. Mechanics get texts about new requests and bookings.
• How you opt in: texts are optional. Customers opt in by turning on “Text me updates” before sending a request on a mechanic’s booking page; it is off by default and not required to send a request. Mechanics opt in by turning on “Text me new requests” in setup or Account settings.
• Frequency: varies by request, typically 1 to 6 messages per job.
• Cost: message and data rates may apply.
• Opt out: reply STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your account

Mechanics are responsible for the accuracy of their business profile and for the work they perform. Don’t use MechanicTap to send spam, to mislead customers, or for anything illegal. We may suspend accounts that do.

Disclaimers

MechanicTap is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, MechanicTap is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the quality of repair work performed by mechanics.

Changes

If we change these terms, we’ll update the date above. Continuing to use MechanicTap means you accept the updated terms.
